Car hits and kills pedestrian in Sydney's northwest

A pedestrian, believed to be a man aged in his 80s, has been fatally struck by a car in Sydney’s northwest.

Windsor Rd in Winston Hills was closed in both directions between Churchill Dr and the M2 Motorway after the man was hit by a car on Friday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the area about 3.25pm.

“Members of the public performed CPR on the man at the scene, before officers attached to the Parramatta Police Area Command and NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived,” police said.

The man could not be revived.

Windsor Rd has since reopened southbound at Winston Hills but northbound lanes remain shut as emergency crews remain on site.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use Old Windsor Rd or Pennant Hills Rd.

Buses are being diverted and are delayed in the area.

Drivers and commuters are being warned to allow extra travel time as traffic is heavy.
