Read nowLogan Detective Nicola Brown said an altercation between the two cars over the “erratic driving behaviour” escalated when a man pulled a gun on the family car and fired.
“An unknown male driving a silver Mitsubishi Lancer has fired a shot into the window of (the family) car,” Brown said.
“We are extremely grateful that none of them were injured.”
Brown said that the family, which included two adults, a 15-year-old, and two 18-year-olds, were left “very shaken up”.
“We would implore anybody, if you become involved in any sort of altercation, to stop, take a breath and call triple-0.
“We don’t want to see anyone get hurt.”
Police said there were no suspects at this time, but investigators were working to canvas neighbourhoods for CCTV footage, including city council and road cameras.
Brown also gave a stern warning to offenders that Queensland Police will “not tolerate” any gun crime.
“Having unlawful guns in suburbia is just not tolerated,” she said.
Anyone with any information or dashcam footage is asked to contact police.
